This is an antique piece that I acquired in Europe, as such it is marked with their numerical system for gold, in this case 585 for 14k gold. Sapphires and diamonds tested accurately on my Presidium gem tester. Note that one of the sapphires on the far side is set with prongs, so the original must have fallen out and they built prongs to hold it. I didn't find it bothersome to the design of the ring, just interesting. Size almost a 5, the opening is perfectly shaped but a bit wider so it went past the 4 3/4 on my mandrel with open space on each side so I think it could be worn even slightly larger as the finger shapes around it.As mentioned above, one of the sapphires is set with 8 tiny prongs so it is not uniform in the setting with the other two. When I look at it lit up under magnification, I can see that stone is slightly more royal blue than the other two stones which are blue but with a slightly more greenish tint. They all appear uniform in color when the piece is worn, a deep beautiful sapphire blue color. It's just when you light the stones up and look really close that you can see a color difference.
Some surface wear to the stones not seen with the naked eye, but I tried to show it really zoomed in in the photos. The old cut diamonds are irregularly cut which is common for the period. Some surface wear and scratches to the gold from wear over the years. Still nicely shaped, a very sweet piece. But as with all my estate pieces - please note this is not a mint condition item.
